Summary: Analysis of trial-level and patient-level data from eight randomized, controlled trials of intensive chemotherapy in patients with newly diagnosed AML examined the relationship between complet remission (CR) rate and event-free survival (EFS) with overall survival (OS). Trial –level analyses demonstrated a moderate association between hazard ratios for EFS and OS using a harmonized definition of EFS. Patient-level responder analyses demonstrated that patients who achieved a CR had better OS compared with CR without full count recovery and nonresponse.
