De studie includeerde 43 patiënten, die eens per drie weken docetaxel-PM (75 mg/m2) plus trastuzumab-pkrb (8 mg/kg in de eerste cyclus, vervolgens 6 mg/kg). Het primaire eindpunt was percentage patiënten met respons. Partiële respons werd gezien in 30 patiënten (ORR 69,8%; 95%-bti 53,9-82,8) en stabiele ziekte in 10 patiënten, voor een disease control rate van 93,0% (80,9-98,5). De mediane progressievrije overleving was 7,9 maanden (95%-bti 6,3-9,5), de mediane duur van respons was 6,7 maanden (5,1-8,4), en de mediane overall survival was 23,3 maanden (19,9-26,7). De combinatie had betere werkzaamheid in de groep patiënten met HER2 IHC score 3+ dan in de groep met IHC-score 2+. Achtendertig patiënten (88,4%) hadden treatment-related adverse events. TRAEs resulteerden in dosisuitstel in negen patiënten (20,9%), permanente discontinuering in veertien patiënten (32,6%), en doseringsreductie in negentien patiënten (44,2%).
De onderzoekers concluderen dat de combinatie van docetaxel-PM en trastuzumab-pkrb voor R/M SDC veelbelovende antitumoractiviteit had en een manageable toxiciteitsprofiel.
