De studie werd uitgevoerd in vijf hoog-volume centra. De onderzoekers analyseerden 17.930 LNs na NACT en esofagectomie onder 763 patiënten. Ze zagen complete respons in 62 patiënten (8,1%), partiële respons in 155 (20,3%), slechte of geen respons in 303 (39,7%), en geen LNs in 243 (31,8%). De figuur laat zien dat de respons voorspellend was voor overall survival tijdens vijf jaar follow-up. Regressie van de primaire tumor en LN-regressie waren discordant in 165 patiënten (21,9%).
