De studie includeerde 80 patiënten die tussen begin 2006 en eind 2014 in New York bevacizumab kregen voor recidiverend GBM. De behandeling werd voortgezet tot klinische en radiografische aanwijzingen voor progressie. Patiënten met klassiek subtype werden significant (p=0,011) kortere tijd met bevacizumab behandeld (mediaan 2,7 maanden) dan patiënten met mesenchymaal, neuraal, of proneuraal subtype (5,1 respectievelijk 6,4 en 6,0 maanden). Zowel in univariate als multivariate analyse waren klassiek subtype en EGFR-genamplificatie significant geassocieerd met kortere tijd tot progressie.
De onderzoekers concluderen dat EGFR-genamplificatie en klassiek subtype ongunstige predictieve factoren zijn voor bevacizumab-behandeld recidiverend GBM.

Summary: A retrospective review of MSKCC patients who were treated with bevacizumab for recurrent glioblastoma found that EGFR gene amplification and classical subtype (TGCA analysis) were associated with shorter time to progression compared to no EGFR gene amplification and other subtypes.
