De studie includeerde 169 patiënten, onder wie 116 die anti-PD-1 monotherapie kregen en 53 die anti-PD-1 plus anti-CTLA-4 behandeling kregen. Er waren 37 patiënten met primair progressieve ziekte. Deze patiënten hadden een extreem slechte overall survival. Onder de 132 patiënten met klinisch profijt waren zowel ETS als DoR significant geassocieerd met overall survival en progressievrije overleving. Optimale afsnijpunten voor ETS en DoR waren relatieve afname met tenminste 1% respectievelijk 50%.
De onderzoekers concluderen dat ETS and DoR belangrijke prognostische factoren waren in patiënten die ICIs kregen voor MSI-H/dMMR mCRC. Een prospectieve validatie van deze waarneming is gewenst.

Summary: A multicenter retrospective study in Italy found that among patients receiving ICIs for MSI-H/dMMR metastatic colorectal cancer, early tumor shrinkage and depth of response were important prognostic factors. A prospective validation is warranted.
