De American Society of Clinical Oncology maakte vandaag (12 maart) de lijst bekend van de Special Awards die tijdens de komende ASCO-meeting (Chicago, 30 mei-3 juni) zullen worden uitgereikt. Boven aan de lijst staat prof. H.M. Pinedo, emeritus-hoogleraar bij het VUmc. Pinedo krijgt de David A. Karnofsky Memorial Award. De Special Awards Selection Committee van ASCO meldt: In a career spanning four decades, Dr. Pinedo has focused on original, translational cancer research combining leading-edge basic science with clinical excellence, including serving as a founder of the Center for Translational Molecular Medicine in Eindhoven (2006) and as President of the European Society of Medical Oncology (1987-1989).
