In Review of Scientific Instruments presenteren prof. James Tunnell (University of Texas, Austin) een instrument dat een snel en niet-invasief onderzoek van huidlesies mogelijk maakt.¹ Het instrument maakt gebruik van Raman spectroscopy, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, en laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. Volgens Tunnell zou gebruik van het instrument kunnen resulteren in afname van het aantal kostbare negatieve biopten.
