De studie includeerde 366 patiënten die 1:1 werden gerandomiseerd naar intraveneus atezolizumab 1200 mg iedere drie weken plus oraal cabozantinib 40 mg eens per dag (n=186) of intraveneus docetaxel 75 mg/m2 iedere drie weken (n=180). Het primaire eindpunt van de studie was overall survival. De figuur laat zien dat de mediane OS niet langer was met atezolizumab plus cabozantinib dan met docetaxel, hoewel de mediane progressievrije overleving dat wel was. Graad 3 of 4 treatment-related adverse events werden gezien in 38,4% versus 34,7%, en graad 5 TRAEs in 2,2% versus 0,6%).
De onderzoekers concluderen dat in deze patiëntengroep de combinatie van atezolizumab plus cabozantinib niet resulteerde in betere OS dan docetaxel.
